Admittedly on my lap top. I wonder how they will be seen in the future. No longer kept in an old shoe box under the bed, with the date and who was in them written in pencil on the back, or stuck into the ‘photo album’ you know the one where only the best photos are displayed.
With everything digital and kept in the cloud, what happens when the cloud bursts? Do the pixels dissipate never to return.
Will someone pop into their local archives in say 30 years and say ‘Have you got any pictures of what my town looked like at the turn of the century?
I just like looking through old photos.
This is one of my favourites, not because of the rainbow, or the lamp reflection (taken through a window) that could at a push be taken as a UFO (cue Gerry Anderson UFO music) but because that building no longer exists.
The whole area redeveloped from this
Until the next re development.

I spend a lot of time just walking along the banks of the river (Great Ouse) during my lunch breaks and on the odd occasion or two a quick evening stroll before I make the mad dash home through the traffic. Always carrying a camera of some sort I get to take a lot of photographs of swans, geese (mainly Canada geese) ducks, the resident cormorants and of course the herons.
I find herons fascinating birds, they are so patient, waiting for the right moment, then quick as a flash they have caught their supper.
Where one Canada goose, the rest follows….. They graze constantly, then one after another they synchronize their dive into the river, swimming across to see if someone sitting on the opposite bank has something for them.
The swans of course just glide up and down the river
Meet up for a quick chat (and a bite to eat)
Pop over to see what others are having for lunch
and then its Homeward Bound

On one of my regular lunchtime walks along the river, I passed through my usual turning point (Town Bridge) and made my way to the weir. Sitting down to eat my lunch, camera at the ready I spied the usual swans, ducks and Canada geese. It was a pleasant surprize to see a couple of herons fly in.
It was many years ago on this river that I first saw a heron for the first time.
As I sat watching the Canada geese, I became aware that they were watching me as they grazed the sunburnt grass
One in particular followed me to the rubbish bin as I disposed of my sandwich packaging, hissing his disappointment
at not receiving a snack!

There will be plenty of photos of the Bedford River Festival, so I thought I would post a few photos before the estimated three hundred thousand visitors descended.
Though some arrived early
and some were practicing
whilst others stayed on guard
and enjoyed a snooze………….
and the youngsters had a good look around
Come back later to see after the River Festival

It’s Sunday. Growing up in my household, it was always the day when not much happened. It was the day when cars were washed (by hand) Usually by me to earn a little bit of extra pocket-money. Newsagents opened for a few hours. Definitely closed by 1pm. Teenagers worked on their bicycles or if they were old enough on their first car. You could smell the roast dinners cooking in each household. One of our neighbours would always pass over the fence the chicken giblets for our cats to eat (we had three)
One of our cats loved cooked chicken so much so she would sit down in front of the oven as it cooked!
Once lunch was finished, the afternoon was usually the time for a trip around garden centres and DIY stores. I never really enjoyed these trips as a youngster as I suffered with hay-fever and was allergic to a lot of things contained within them. We often would go out for a ‘drive’ to nowhere in particular.
I wasn’t to know that years later these little trips around Bedfordshire would be a great help in my working life right up to the present.
One of the places we would go to was right on our door step so to speak. Bedford River. The Great Ouse.

It can only mean one thing……. A Doctor Who Convention
This one is held every year in Bedford – This was Bedford Who Charity Con 4 All profits go to the Bedford Foodbank.
This year one of the guests was Colin Baker – Doctor Number 6
There was also a few sketches with a former companion – Sophie Aldred (Ace) and Elen (a Weeping Angel in disguise)
and this one with John Leeson (the voice of K9)
The convention was held at The Quarry Theatre Bedford
Mondays, Tuesdays ………. it doesn’t matter what day of the week it is. I just love to photograph birds.
Sometimes it’s easier to count the family members than others.
Or seeing where they have decided to build a nest this year
